Everybody knows Google. It’s the best search engine on the web till date. You want some information which might be tough to get,you say-”Hey! No problems man. I’ll just Google it”. And that actually is the best solution for it.

But,do you know that Google is also an excellent hacking tool? That’s right! If the proper keywords are searched, then you can easily obtain passwords, confidential files, personal data, etc. simply by searching on google. In fact, you can also access the security webcams by searching with the proper keywords.

You don’t believe it?Well, google the term “Google Hacking” and find out yourself.I did that too ;) :D

Hacking(clearing the misconceptions)

The world was going fine…the people were going on with their daily lives. They used to surf the net and there were some instances, where people were cheated on the net.Someone had his password stolen, someone got an empty bank account. Some disgruntled ex-employee stole the company secrets and sold them to a competitor. All of these were found in some obscure corner of the newspaper, and were the talk only amongst the people actually concerned, and the experts.

All of a sudden, some techy movie was released, which had this evil computer genius as a character, who was a “hacker” and who could create chaos in the entire country just by his computer. He could create viruses, which could blow up the computer,he could take over the control of the nukes. He could even cyber-spy on your girlfriend or money :P .

This was the time, when suddenly a lot of people came to realize that the reason why they could no longer log into their e-mail accounts was because someone had found out the password of he account and had changed it.This was also the time when the term “hacker” changed from a being a complement to being equivalent to a thief.

The phrase “to hack” means to gain knowledge about a machine. When a person is hacking a computer,it simply means that he his trying to understand his computer better. So,actually,a hacker is simply a person who is trying to gain knowledge about something, without any malicious intent.

Then, who was that evil computer genius with all his knowledge?Ans:He was a “Cracker”.A cracker is a person, who breaks into computer systems without any permissions, with malicious intent. The term “cracker” was probably coined by the “good” hackers,so as to differentiate themselves from the “bad” ones. It’s a cracker, who wants to know your password,or to crash your computer or use your e-mail ID.

I hope this has changed your concepts about the term “hacker” and it would be used much more carefully next time. :)

Changing the login password of user accounts in windows OS

I recently found out this way to change the password for any kind of account in the windows OS,be it Administrator or guest.

Simply follow the given steps:

1)Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select manage or,go to ‘run’,type in ‘compmgmt.msc’ and press enter. This opens up the Computer Management.

2)Then,under ‘System Tools’,select ‘Local Users and Groups’.

3)You will see two folder icons, one named ‘Users’ and the other named ‘groups’.Select ‘Users’.Here, you will see the various accounts in your computer.Right click on any one of them and you’ll see the option of setting a new password. It also gives you the option of deleting the account.

4)Select ‘Set Password…’ and then you get a box, which simply asks for a new password, without asking the current password.Type in the new password and you are done.

Top 10 antiviruses of 2008

I am frequently asked some questions by my friends and other people-”What antivirus are you using?” or “Which antivirus, you think I should install on your computer?”.I also get recommendations for certain antiviruses from time to time,in which case I take the opportunity to try the antivirus out.

With time, the viruses have started becoming more and more dangerous, aggressive and sophisticated, making the Internet more and more dangerous place to be.Thankfully, there are antiviruses, which although not completely, but to a certain level do protect computers from these viruses.

Till now,I have used 4 antiviruses-Norton,Avast,AVG and ESET Nod32.Of these, the best experience that I have had has been with Nod32.I haven’t had a single virus in my computer since I intalled it,it gets updated regulalrly and it’s pretty good at virus scanning.

I would love to get my hands on all the good antiviruses out there and then give a recommendation, but till then,I’ll simply give the top ten antiviruses according to the website www.toptenreviews.com .

So,according to www.toptenreviews.com,the top ten antiviruses are:

1)BitDefender

2)Kaspersky

3)ESET Nod32

4)Trend Micro Antivirus plus AntiSpyware

5)F-Secure Antivirus

6)McAfee VirusScan

7)Norton Antivirus
