Top 10 antiviruses of 2008

February 3, 2008

I am frequently asked some questions by my friends and other people-”What antivirus are you using?” or “Which antivirus, you think I should install on your computer?”.I also get recommendations for certain antiviruses from time to time,in which case I take the opportunity to try the antivirus out.

With time, the viruses have started becoming more and more dangerous, aggressive and sophisticated, making the Internet more and more dangerous place to be.Thankfully, there are antiviruses, which although not completely, but to a certain level do protect computers from these viruses.

Till now,I have used 4 antiviruses-Norton,Avast,AVG and ESET Nod32.Of these, the best experience that I have had has been with Nod32.I haven’t had a single virus in my computer since I intalled it,it gets updated regulalrly and it’s pretty good at virus scanning.

I would love to get my hands on all the good antiviruses out there and then give a recommendation, but till then,I’ll simply give the top ten antiviruses according to the website www.toptenreviews.com .

So,according to www.toptenreviews.com,the top ten antiviruses are:

1)BitDefender

2)Kaspersky

3)ESET Nod32

4)Trend Micro Antivirus plus AntiSpyware

5)F-Secure Antivirus

6)McAfee VirusScan

7)Norton Antivirus

8)AVG-Antivirus Pro

9)CA Antivirus

10)Norman Virus Control

Although you are working with the above mentioned anti viruses but my suggestion is –
Try out Avira AntiVir, i found it really good specially at tracking many types of trojan horses.
The only problem is that if the net connection is slow then there are problems while updating it

i’d still stick to NOD32 though…i’ve used Norton , AVG , Avast , BitDefender and a couple of them more….but when i got hold of NOD32 , man….i’ve simply fallen in luv wid it!!

my comp. is as clean from viruses ,spywares, trojans , worms and intrusions 24×7.The Dude blocks any kind of maliicious program entering my system while downloading at gunpoint! :)
It’s easily compatible with my system also unlike a/v’s like Norton or Avast who tortoisify the PC like hell!

    Long Live ESET!

Heh…good that you’ve finally found an antivirus that you actually seem to like a lot Aayush. :) I myself am yet to experience anything bad while using ESET.Lets hope that continues.
